Important information for tenants

The Province of Manitoba has released important information for tenants. Due to COVID-19, the Residential Tenancies Branch (RTB) and Residential Tenancies Commission (RTC) will postpone all non-urgent eviction hearings until May 31. The situation will be monitored to determine if additional adjustments are required. During this time, evictions will only be issued for serious issues affecting health and safety. Rent increases are frozen from April 1 until further notice. The full statement is available here.

Renting: Essential Information

West Broadway Community Organization will be holding two workshops on essential information for tenants.

February 21 will focus on rental rights. Come learn about your rights as a renter! If there is a problem in your apartment, such as pests, need for repairs, or conflict with your landlord, there will be housing staff available to talk one-on-one after the workshop.

February 24 will focus on Rent Assist. Having trouble paying your rent? Come learn about Rent Assist, a financial benefit available to low-income renters. If you would like to apply for Rent Assist, there will be housing staff available after the workshop to help you with application forms.

Both workshops will run from 10:00-11:00 at 222 Furby (Crossways in Common) in the 2nd floor boardroom. Free to attend!

Accessibility Information: The space is accessible by an elevator and stairs. Washrooms are not gendered. Childcare is available on site through Wolseley Family Place, on a first come, first served basis. Both workshops are free to attend. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided during the workshops.
